In honor of Veterans Day, please join us to learn about WWI with Terry Lynch of HFK Presents.

It's been over 100 years since the beginning of World War I. This war, more than any other, brought with it changes to the leadership in Europe, changes in warfare, and changes to society, especially for women. Hear how World War I resulted in - to quote a song from another war - a world turned upside down.

Terry Lynch has been a professional actor performing on stage, TV, film and radio in the Chicagoland area for more than 20 years. He has also appeared regularly on the WGN Morning Show.  This program is brought to you in partnership with the Algonquin, Crystal Lake and Huntley libraries. Refreshments will be served. 

World War I – known at the time as “The Great War” – officially ended when the Treaty of Versailles was signed on June 28, 1919, in the Palace of Versailles outside the town of Versailles, France. However, fighting ceased seven months earlier when an armistice, or temporary cessation of hostilities, between the Allied nations and Germany went into effect on the eleventh hour of the eleventh day of the eleventh month. For that reason, November 11, 1918, is generally regarded as the end of “the war to end all wars.”  Veterans Day continues to be observed on November 11, regardless of what day of the week on which it falls.(https://department.va.gov/veterans-day/history-of-veterans-day/)
