Event Details

The Cary Area Public Library, as part of a collaboration of McHenry County public libraries, is pleased to host author Daniel Kraus in the Luecht Auditorium at McHenry County College in Crystal Lake, IL on Thursday, November 6, 7:00pm–9:00pm.

Daniel Kraus co-authored The Shape of Water with Guillermo del Toro, based on the same idea the two created for the Oscar-winning film. Also with del Toro, Kraus co-authored Trollhunters, which was adapted into the Emmy-winning Netflix series. He cowrote The Living Dead and Pay the Piper with legendary filmmaker George A. Romero. Kraus’s The Death and Life of Zebulon Finch was named one of Entertainment Weekly‘s Top 10 Books of the Year. Another of his novels, Whalefall, was named a Best Book of 2023 by Book Riot, Shelf Awareness, and NPR. Kraus has won the Bram Stoker Award, Scribe Award, two Odyssey Awards (for both Rotters and Scowler), and has appeared multiple times as Library Guild selections, YALSA Best Fiction for Young Adults, and more.  Kraus’s work has been translated into over 20 languages. He lives with his wife in Chicago. Visit him at danielkraus.com.

This author event is part of the McHenry County Libraries - Let's All Read Together community reading program. County residents are encouraged to come together in a shared reading experience.
