Please join us for an evening of Slowing Down with Amy Tan, presented by Illinois Libraries Presents.  Tan is the author of six novels, not least of which is the critically acclaimed The Joy Luck Club, which was adapted into a feature film in 1993. Amy Tan is also the author of numerous other works of nonfiction, children's books, and short stories.  Ms. Tan, a first generation Chinese-American, is a California native and an avid bird watcher. Her most recent publication, a work of non-fiction entitled The Backyard Bird Chronicles, both written and illustrated by Tan, was published in 2024.  In 2021, she was awarded the National Humanities Medal for her contributions to American Literature.
